How it All Began
It all began several years ago when Bob and
Cindy visited a candle company owned by friends in another
city and decided on the spot that making candles was what
they wanted to do. After a couple of years of
research, learning, and planning they sold another company
that they'd owned for nearly thirteen years and opened Candles Poured &
More. The candles they made were of such outstanding quality
that they became an instant hit with candle lovers in the
Atlanta area.
In 2003 they announced they were thinking
about selling the company and their customers' first reaction
was a panicked "how will I get these great candles if
you aren't here?"
Susan,
Carol and David had much the same reaction. Long time friends
(even buying houses in the same subdivision) they had been Bob & Cindy's
customers for years, and just like everyone else who ever
tried their candles, were devoted fans. At dinner one
evening they were discussing Bob and Cindy's announcement,
and what followed
was the
first of many conversations that eventually led to the three of
them to
approaching Bob and Cindy. The rest, as they say, is history.
Making the leap into the candle industry was an
exciting adventure for all of us. The reception for "the new kids
on the block" was just amazing! Our wonderful
customers gave us plenty of encouragement and
support as we settled into our new jobs.
Meanwhile Bob and Cindy took a much anticipated extended
vacation, but since they have "wax in the blood",
they couldn't stay away forever (although Bob reports he had
a hard time coaxing Cindy out of the beachfront condo). Bob
and Cindy are dear friends, coaches, mentors, consultants, and
counselors; Bob still provides 100% of our minimum daily
requirements for corny jokes.
When people ask us if making candles is really as much fun
as it sounds, we are quick to answer with a heartfelt
"yes!".
Our Philosophy on How to Succeed in the
Candle Business
We share a common belief that anything that goes under our
label should make us proud of what we do for a living. In an
industry where pinching pennies is commonplace, we simply refuse
to reduce the quality of our product by choosing cheaper
ingredients or production methods.
The blend of ingredients in our
secret formula are some of the most expensive on the market but
nothing we've ever tested has come close to achieving the same
long, clean burn that our candles are known for. Even though
there are cheaper choices of waxes, we stick to using only the
very best.
The fragrance oils we use are also
some of the most expensive in the industry--we use only top
quality, commercial-grade oils that have been specially
formulated to give a nice big "scent throw" and clean burn. And
we use generous portions of fragrance oils so our candles always
have the wonderful scent they're famous for.
We never, ever "spike" our
candles like some manufacturers do (spiking is when the
manufacturer adds extra fragrance oil to the top of the candle so
it smells great in the store but it quickly loses its scent after
you've burned it a little while). Every one of our candles
smells just as great at the bottom as it does on the top because
we mix and pour every
single batch by hand to make sure the fragrance oil is mixed
evenly throughout. It's hard work but it's the best way to
make a great candle.
Finally, because we insist on making our candles
in small batches we don't need to add extra ingredients to extend
their shelf life. Everything in our special formula is there
solely to make the candle perform well for you, not to increase
our bottom line.
All our attention to quality makes
some people call us picky, but we don't care. All we care about
is what our customers say and they tell us there is no other
candle that compares to ours. Read what our customers say about our
candles
We sincerely hope you enjoy using our candles
as much as we
enjoy making them for you.
